Show Widtsoe Fund Appeal Made j iii'in " " " ' "" 1 " m n - ... V' . . ' i ,- , .... ". x ' ' .- " - v An invitation to participate in a memorial scholarship fund is being extended to residents of southern Utah through the John A. Widtsoe Memorial Scholarship Foundation ' Committee. The Foundation has been established so that worthy young college students may have, advantages of study through scholarships ajidi an opportunity to do research. In meeting the objectives of the Foundation, the name of DrJ John A. Widtsoe will be perpetuated. Dr. Widtsoe, scientist, educator, churchman, church-man, and lover of youth, contributed a life-time of service to humanity. It is in his honor that friends have joined together to establish the memorial scholarship foundation. The Foundation, Founda-tion, now a little over one year old, is already j functioning and has resulted in one student of the College of Southern Utah having been named a benefactor of the scholarship fund. Money given to the foundation is to remain intact with only interest being used for scholar-1 ships. By this arrangement, this and future gen-1 erations may have an opportunity for study and! research and continue the work started by Dr.-Widtsoe. Dr.-Widtsoe. People in this area have already contributed contribut-ed to the fund. Some have pointed out that "a single gift will endure forever and serve our youth for generations to come." Committee members say that real service can be given by participation In the Foundation. The donors will be assured that the entire amount of their contribution Is to be useful not only this year, fcut for future years. The amount given can mean the difference between some young student getting get-ting an education or not. It may mean the completion or the starting of a scientific study which will benefit all mankind. Everyone is invited to take advantage ad-vantage of this opportunity to be of service to youth. Heading the foundation Is a board of trustees which includes: Pr. Milton R. Hunter, Harold H. Smith, Marlon D. Hanks, J. Wy-ley Wy-ley Sessions, Dr. A. Ray Olpin, Dr. Ernest L. Wilkinson, Dr. John L. Clarke, Dr. Joel Ricks, and Richard Rich-ard W. Clayton. Dr. Vaul K. Edmunds Ed-munds Is chairman of the local committee. |
