Show THE OGDEN VALLEY NEWS Volume IV, Issue IV Page 5 June 1, 2001 Ogden Canyon Club Update The Rush Is On! With the financial and material help of community donors and the grant from the Weber County Heritage Foundation, Phase 2 of the Ogden Canyon Limestone Kiln restoration will soon begin. Phase 2 is the reconstruction of the inside of the kiln. Rick Brown, Applied Technology Center and his students; Cody Wright, local stone mason; along with U.S. Forest Service employees and volunteers will work together to reconstruct this historical site which will be a focal point along the Ogden River Scenic Byway. To designate Ogden Canyon as part of a national scenic byway will promote its unique and special qualities, and will be marketed nationally and EDEN internationally as part of the National Scenic Byway System. Ogden Canyon will be on the map! The Ogden Canyon Club Needs Your Help to Keep This Restoration project Going! The project will cost approximately $10,000. To date, we have received $3,900. Target date for completion is mid-summer. The club is a non-profit organization so your donation is tax deductible. Mail your donations to the Ogden Canyon Club, P.O. Box 1766, Ogden, UT 84402-1766. Another Successful Canyon Clean-up! On May 12, 80 volunteers turned out to give the canyon its spring cleaning. A big thank you to all those who helped dig dyers woad and fill an 8-ton truck full of “you name it” debris. It is so gratifying to see children, teenagers, and adults working together to keep the canyon “litter free.” Thanks to Rainbow Gardens, Alaskan Inn, GrayCliff, and The Oaks for sponsoring this semi-annual event. See you all in October! Next OCC Board Meeting: The Oaks June 12, 2001 7:00 p.m. 745-4663 2595 N.
