Valley Student Takes State Honors in Reflection Competition Jacob Satterthwaite, son of Dale and Liana Satterthwaite of Middle Fork recently took First Place in the Literature category in the 2000-2001 Weber Council Reflections Contest. He received a trophy and was honored at a ceremony held at the North Ogden Branch Library. His entry then went on to the Region PTA Contest where he again took First Place. He received a ribbon and had the opportunity to shake hands with Weber School District Superintendent Dr. Tim Chatelain. Satterthwaite was chosen as a representative for Region II PTA in the State Reflections Contest where he received honors for his story. This year’s Reflection Theme was “It Would Really Be Strange If . . .” Students used their imaginations to create their stories. Jacob used a picture in Mrs. McVaugh’s room which shows a house lifting off its foundation like a rocket. He titled his entry It Would Be Really Strange If . . . My House Was Like a Rocket Ship. In the story Jacob is the head astronaut and common household items became his instrument panel and space suit. He took a wonderful trip to Mars, brought back a Martian—only to find out it was all just a dream. He decided it was better not to drink “ORBIT” drinks before going to bed. Jacob is a 4th grade student at Valley Elementary. Weber High students help with PTSA luncheon.
