Show : HEAVIEST SUPPER I Leads Alta Mines in Output of Ore, Is Manager's Statement. TRAM IS REPAIRED I High-Grade Product From j Copper Prince Tunnel Pleases. , Accorins to a statement issued yester- day by the management of the Michigan- j Utah, during the past week that Alta ! property has averaged more than one ! carload per day from the mine to the i smelter. The tramway has been stopped 1 twice during the week to substitute new traction rope to replace portions of the rope that were worn out. The company has 5000 feet of new rope which will be put into use within the next twenty days. TL tramway will then be good" for a V r tilT)e without further repairs, barring ? jFaccidents. The snow is all gone, except gjr on the Big Cottonwood side, which, of l course, does not interfere with operations. opera-tions. The men operating the Pioneer lease on the Big Cottonwood side are living in tents near Lake Solitude. They are taking out some unusually fine silver-lead silver-lead ore. This will be raised from the Solitude tunnel to the Cleaves tunnel and thence taken down the tramway in the regular course. The Triangle is rapidly increasing its output from the ground covered by its lease. Development High Grade. The most encouraging feature of the Michigan -Utah is the ore being developed and shipped from the Copper Prince tunnel tun-nel and also developing in the tunnel In the Patsy Marley hill. Steady shipments are now being maintained from the Copper Cop-per Prince on company account. The ore is copper, with silver and gold values. Shipments are also being made from the iron copper ore in the Copper Prince. Satisfactory arrangements have been made with the smelter in regard to these ores from the Copper Prince and sufficient suffi-cient ore has been developed in the high-grade high-grade belt to continue shipments indefinitely. indefi-nitely. This is a highly satisfactory conclusion con-clusion of many weary months of drifting drift-ing to reach the spot where the ore was thought to exist. It has been found there, good in quality, and the quantity is increasing in-creasing every day. Sinking New Winze. In the Patsy Marley tunnel the company is sinking a winze on the ore. The winze is to go down about fifty feet, where drifts will be started both east and west from the bottom of the winze. The ore in this part of the mine is very high-grade silver-lead. From the bottom of the winze last referred to a crosscut will be extended ex-tended northeasterly to the surface. This will reavh a point directly opposite the company's station, thus enabling the I, company to handle the ore as it is mined ; a minimum expense. fcT together, conditions at trie Michigan- L'tah are excellent. For some time it L has been the largest shipper of ore in . the Alta camp, and there is no reason t i w hy it should, not continue to stand up ' v among the best of them. The South ' Secla, the Rexall. the Sells, the Emma CVer and the Alta Consolidated are all either shipping or intending to ship for the season, and are all endeavoring to reach first place. Taking it altogether, the camp is a lively one at the present time and bids fair to improve each month of the coming year. |
