Show -r-r--r- r- P. P. SHELBY'S APPOINTMENT. The . Gentleman - Promoted and . Transferred to Salt Lake. The Omaha Republican of the 8th inst. has the following good news concerning a gentleman as well liked in Salt Lake City as he is universally respected throughout the great West : . . "An official announcement has not yet been made to the effect, but it is nevertheless neverthe-less known to a few people that Mr. P. P. Shelby, now general freight agent of the Union Pacific road,is soon to receive another promotion. In fact it is already settled that Mr. Shelby will, after the first of January, become assistant general traffic manager, with headquarters at Salt Lake City, and look after the business at that end of the line." The promotion is a deserving one, and will be received with expressions of gratification grati-fication by all of Mr. Shelby's host of friends. . He is one of the most popular railroad men in the country. Messrs. Shelby, .Stebbins, Morse, Kimball and other prominent railway officials, are now in California to remain until the close of - the present Transcontinental Pool Meeting to ; convene at Monterey. Salt Lake will welcome Mr. Shelby as a desirable new year's addition to the already al-ready live cfrcle of railroad and social spirits. - |
