Show Layton High science teacher j gains honors LAYTON -- Michael Harris,: Layton High School teacher, has -been accepted into a special Na-; tional Science Foundation summer J education program. Mr. Harris will : travel to Ohio State University and : the University of Maryland this-summer this-summer to participate as a Physics ; Teachers Resource Agent. Only one or two professional teachers ' from each state are chosen to parti- cipate in this program that is de-; signed to bring training in the phy-: sics area to all high school: teachers. THE EDUCATIONAL experience experi-ence will include classes, lectures, instruction plans, lesson develop-; ment, computer use in physics" labs, demonstrations and physics competitions. After returning to Utah, Mr.. Harris will give workshops in the techniques he learned to local phy-. sics teachers thereby strengthen-: ing the instructional programs in many schools. MR. HARRIS has taught in the' Davis School District for 16 years, the past six years have been at Layton High School. In 1984 he-was he-was named Outstanding Physics teacher by the University of Utah: College of Engineering. At Laytoa High School he served as the coach, of the highly successful Academic Olympiad team. He is an advisor to the National Honor Society in addition to his teaching assignments assign-ments which includes physics and advanced math classes, dmg : |
