Show Freedom concert scheduled for Friday 1 1 1 L. conducted the University Singers and the Women's Chorus at the University of Utah. As a member of the Young Women's General Board she served on the General Music Committee for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for four years. Dr. Winterton is married to Boyd Winterton, who presently serves as Chief of Chaplain Cha-plain service at the Veteran's Medical Center in Salt Lake City. They are the parents of six children. chil-dren. , . . , . BESIDES "Testament of Freedom," Free-dom," the Choir will also present related works including "Song of Democracy," a musical work based on the poetry of Walt Whitman Whit-man by the well known American composer, Howard Hanson, and dedicated to the National Education Educa-tion Association for its Centennial Celebration in 1957. Other works to be presented will include: "Give Me Your Tired, Your Poor" by Irving Berlin, "Battle Hymn of the Republic" by Julia Ward Howe w and William Steffe. and the "National "Na-tional Hymn" written for the Centennial Cen-tennial Celebration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Independ-ence. "The National Hymn" is more commonly known as "God of Our Fathers". A special arrangement arrange-ment of "America the Beautiful" will close the program and the audience audi-ence will be invited to join with the choir to sing the coda. Accompaniment for the concert will be by George McClellan at the ' Bountiful Tabernacle organ, with Mary Louise Beckstrand and Carol Petersen at the piano. Narrative parts will be presented by Daniel A. Keeler, a well known figure in radio and television, whose voice is recognizable by all who have attended the Manti Pageants and those who are regular patrons of KUED. MR. KEELER is a long time resident resi-dent of the Bountiful area and has reared five of his children here with his wife, Felicia, who is a native of South Africa. The South Davis Community Choir will present an unusual opportunity to avail ourselves of the wisdom of Thomas Jefferson in concert, as they present Randall Thompson's musical setting of the Testament of Freedom, based on the writings of Thomas Jefferson. The Concert will be presented on Friday, May 9, in the Bountiful Tabernacle at 8 D.m. THE CHOIR IS becoming well known in the area with its annual presentation of the Messiah and last year's April performance of an original work by Bradley F. Keeler, Keel-er, a Bountiful native, "That We Might Have Life." "Testament of Freedom" will be conducted by Dr. Bonnie Winter-ton, Winter-ton, whose enthusiasm and spirit permeates all the work done by the South Davis Community Choir. Her precision and wealth of musical music-al background produces stunning results in the local choir, consisting of any and all who like to sing. Dr. Winterton is the principal accompanist accom-panist and assistant director of the Utah Symphony Chorus. She is an adjunct Professor of Music at the University of Utah and teaches group and private piano lessons. She received her B.A. Degree from Brigham Young University and her DR. BONNIE WINTERTON Master's Degree in Choral Conducting Con-ducting from University of Utah. She completed work for her Ph.D. in Music Education at the University Univer-sity in October of 1985.
