Show S.II. men win LBS COLLEGE OFFICIAL POSTS Two Sugar House men were elected to the student council at LDS Business College branch of Brigham Young University last week. Walt Winkleman was chosen president, and Max Adam, Jr., was named recreation committee chairman. chair-man. Mr. Winkleman is son of Mrs. Paula E. Winkleman, 1961 East 1st South. Mr. Adam is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Gabriel Adam, 752 Ashton avenue Both men returned re-turned from serving LDS missions just recently. Winkleman served in the Eastern States mission, while Adam was in the Northern States. Enrolled in an accounting course with an eye to going into selling and management, the new student president arrived home just in time to become a player on the Laurel-crest Laurel-crest ward basketball team. He coached a team in the mission field. Mr. Adam came from Germany with his family three years ago. He received schooling as a draftsman-engineer-architect in Europe, and is studying business because he plans -to go into business for himself. him-self. A member of Forest Dale ward, young Adam is already busy directing direct-ing a German language choir. Other officers elected to the business busi-ness college student council were vice president Ada Funk, secretary Afton Ward and assemblies committee com-mittee chairman Glen Nielsen. The council is busy with plans for the annual Founder's Day to be held this year on November 14 and 15. outstanding work as school historian, his-torian, member of the student affairs af-fairs committee, board of control and house of delegates at South high school. Of the 21 scholarships awarded, three were presented to students from Utah, according to Dr. Lawrence Lawr-ence H. Chamberlain, dean of the Liberal Arts College, Columbia University. The awards were made to students stu-dents for their "outstanding promise prom-ise as citizens and future leaders." Other Utahns so honored were Don B. Allen of Logan and Ranny S. Kimball of Salt Lake. |
