Show JET ACE JOLLEY TALKS TS ! SCOOT GROUP Captain Clifford D. Jolley, Utah's jet air ace, was the featured speaker speak-er at the monthly roundtable of the Great Salt Lake Boy Scout Council. District Scout commissioners turned out 100 strong to hear Capt. Jolley relate his experiences of the Korean war. Capt. Jolley told of the MIGs sanctuary just across the Yalu river. He also described saberjet dogfights over UN territory. He showed airplane models used by the Fourth Fighter Interceptor Wing of the U S Fifth Air Force, and told how they compared in combat with the Russion-built MIGs. He said one of the chief requisites of good pilots is to have a good sense of humor, and related a number of specific experiences. He concluded his talk with a question and answer period, during dur-ing which many interesting sidelights side-lights were covered. Captain Jolley shot down his fifth enemy aircraft, thus becoming a jet ace pilot August 8, but has two additional kills and several damaged planes to his credit, i Captain Jolley, his wife Milderd, and their three children live in Hol-laday, Hol-laday, Utah. Deerburgers and pumpkin pies were served to finish off a zestful evening. |
