Show and civic improvements, according to Warren C. Diehl, linance chairman. chair-man. Among the projects sponsored establishing of East Mill Creek by the club in the past were the Park including fire station, library, gymnasium; installation of fore hydrants throughout the area; equipping of Sherman and William Wil-liam Penn schools' traffic patrols with storm uniforms; purchase of projecting machine for Sherman school; hearing aids collected and distributed to needy children; glasses furnished to needy children. Projects planned for the future include additional sidewalks; additional ad-ditional traffic safety measures; hard-surface parking around gymnasium gym-nasium and fire station and lawn at the East Mill Creek Park. Cost per calendar will be 50c per calendar plus 25c per birthday or anniversary. Calendar committee consists of Diehl, chairman; Eugene B. Duf-fin, Duf-fin, Homer F. Bruggeman, Frank Stillman, LeRoy M. Strand and Harvey Penney. E.M.C. LIOHS TO WMM C'l '52 PROGRAM East Mill Creek Lions club held its opening meeting of the fall season at the Doll House Hhursday with President Frank E. Pitts in charge. Chief item of business was the announcement of the community calendar project, which is sponsored spon-sored annually by the club for the purpose of promoting good community com-munity spirit and to raise funds The 1953 calendar will be inter-for inter-for needed civic improvements, esting and informative, especially to the East Mill Creek area. On each date will be printed the various var-ious functions pertaining to the community, schools, churches, various var-ious associations, etc. In addition will appear the birthdays birth-days of members of families and friends, wedding anniversaries, family members serving in the military service. The profits derived from this project will be used by the Lions club" for worth-while community |
