Show KOTED MINSTREL TO SIIIG AT U. Richard Dyer - Bennett, famed American mintrel and folk singer, will sing Thursday evening, Jan. 21, in Kingsbury Hall at I he University Uni-versity of Utah. The personable young singer brings a new experience to concert con-cert pudiences. His "six-century hit parade." as Look Magazine described de-scribed it, comprises a rare repertoire, including "lusty Elizabethan Eliza-bethan ballads, droll early American Ameri-can fo'k dit'ies, haunting sea chant eys, rollicking Australian bush songs, and compositions in seven languages." Dyer-Bennett has been acclaimed by music critics throughout the world, and an orchid from Walter Winchell. "In addition to being a singer." the New York Times noted, "he is an excellent guitarist, and besides being a fine entertainer, he is a composer and musicologist. He fills the stage with a gallery of wistful, touching, humorous characters." Tickets for the performance are $1.20 each, and may be obtained by mail from the University of Utah extension division. |
