Show Westminster Accepts New Stadium Westminster College Saturday Satur-day accepted the Dane Hansen stadium, "a living tribute" to a former student who gave his life for his country. Gift of Mr. and Mrs. George T. Hansen in memory of their son, Dane, who died in World ar III, the modern stadium was dedicated during halftone of the Westminster-Dixie Junior Jun-ior College football game. Marker Unveiled A bronze plaque, mounted on a truck, was unveiled by Mrs. Hansen after her husband formally for-mally had presented the stadium sta-dium to the college. B. C. J. Wheatlake, chairman of the school's building and grounds committee, accepted. Dr. Robert D. Steele, college president, assured Mr. and Mrs. Hansen, the student body and faculty that the stadium "always "al-ways will be before us as a symbol of youth." Attending the ceremonies were Gov. and Mrs. J. Bracken Lee and Sen. and Mrs. Arthur V. Watkins. Accepted for Students Bruce Laraus, associated students stu-dents president, wearing his football uniform, left the team at halftime to accept the gift for Westminster students. Lt. Dane Hansen, an air force bombardier, was killed in action in 1943. |
