Show Granite Arts Association Sets First Concert Oct 10 A brilliant array of musicians and artists has been lined up for the second1 full season of aof operation of the Granite Arts association which will open op-en its concert series Thursday, Oct. 10 at the Granite high auditorium. au-ditorium. The season opener will be the Guardsmen Quartet, an ensemble en-semble of top flight male vocalists vocal-ists of world renown through concert, radio and motion picture pic-ture performances. Four additional addi-tional artists have already been booked for later presentations and Dr. Leslie D. Burbidge association manager, reports negotiations ne-gotiations are now progressing for still other outstanding concert con-cert attractions to be presented later in the season. Season memberships are selling sell-ing again this year for $5 with a special student rate of S3. 50 and a limited number of these are still available for senior and iunior high students. The full membership quota has nearly been subscribed, but a few memberships mem-berships are still available. These may be secured through Dr. Burbidge in the Medical Arts building, or through any of the following association officials: of-ficials: O. C. England, chairman; G. Carlos Smith, asst. manager; Mrs. R. E. Llo3'd, secretary; Ed-.vin Ed-.vin K. Winder, treasurer; C. R. living in the southern sections of the county, the best talent available on the concert stage. During the first full season last year, ten outstanding presentations presen-tations were given, and the success of the enterprise was assured. Concerts already scheduled following the -Guardsmen Quartet Quar-tet on Oct. 110, are Mary Hutchinson, Hutch-inson, actress, in a program of dramatic portraits, Oct. 29; Nicola Ni-cola Novaes, brilliant Brazilian pianist) Dec. 6, and the internationally interna-tionally famous Jooss Ballet on Feb. 20. Other attractions will be announced at a later date. The Guardsmen Quartet who appear a week next Thursday has been featurd in over a thousand film hits, including 'Harvest Moon," "Frisco Sal," Strawberry Blonde," and on such outstanding radio shows as the 'Show Boat," Lux Radio Theater and the Charles McCarthy Mc-Carthy program. They offer a varied and entertaining evening of entertainment, ranging from classical renditions to current popular numbers, and ending up with "The Lady Killers Quartet," Quar-tet," a hilarious costume number num-ber in "Gay Nineties" setting, complete with authentic handlebar handle-bar mustachios and costumes, routine and patter. ager; M.
