Mr. Oscar Feldscher, manager, man-ager, brings quality merchandise merchan-dise at prices that Sugarhouse people never heard of before. A "Country Store" is a place that has everything from toothpicks to elephants. Dr. E. E. Monson, vice chairman of the Salt Lake County Democratic Committee Commit-tee announced his candidacy for the office of secretary of state on the Democratic ticket. The J. C. Penney Company of Sugarhouse sponsored the "Quinn Fashion Show" at the Mario Theatre. TEN YEARS AGO JULY 1, 1941 Hiram C. Young was announced an-nounced winner of the Sugar-house Sugar-house Chamber of Commerce membership contest at the group's regular luncheon at the Hall-Rogers Cafe in Sugarhouse. Sug-arhouse. Second-place nonors went to E. L. (Ted) Taggart. FIVE YEARS AGO JULY 5, 1946 Carpenters will soon be hammering ham-mering and sawing away on the new Sugar House Chamber Cham-ber of Commerce' office in the Bulletin building, 1119 E. 21st South. At a meeting of the chamber board Tuesday noon, the appointment of Maj. Con D. Silard as a full-time executive secretary was .approved .ap-proved and authorization was given for the remodeling and furnishing of a chamber headquarters head-quarters in the center of the business district. Nearing completion, at 719 . E. 21st South, is a new cleaning clean-ing plant and fur storage vault to be operated by the Wasatch Cleaners, Dyers & Furriers. The new building will replace re-place the smaller facilities now being used by this firm which has been established in Sugar House area for 16 years.
