Show Salt Lake Boys Awarded Medals and Commissions Active duty assignments for two Salt Lake City men who recently re-cently completed the United States Stat-es Marine Corp's officer's training course at Quantico, Va., have been made and the two young officers now are on duty with Maiine Corps units. Graduates of Utah universities last spring the newly new-ly assigned officers are Second Lieut, Bruce Folsom Hillam, son of Mr. and Mrs. La Roy Waering Hillam of 257 Kensington Avenue, and Second Lieut. Laurance White Cracroft, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Cracroft of 1068 Norris Place. w l ' i Lieutenant Hillam Lieutenant Hillam was graduate gradu-ate from Utah State college with a bachelor of sccience degree in commerce. He is a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. His His brother, Second Lieut. D. F. Hillam, is attached to a coast artillery unit of the army. Lieutenant Cracroft Lieutenant Cracroft was graduated grad-uated from the University of Utah where he studied in preparation for a career as writer, majoring in English and earning an A. B. degree. He is affiliated with Sigma Chi fraternity. Both men earned medals for skill with rifle and pistol during their Marine Corps training. They received commissions last November Nov-ember 1 on completion of an officer of-ficer candidate's class then were trained three months at Quanico before being assigned to duty. M |
