Show Legion Commander Plans Visit to Utah : ' l It, ; j j , I Lynn Upshaw Stambaugh, attorney at-torney of Fargo, North Dakota, was born at Abilene, Kansas, July 4th. 1890. He is a law graduate of the University of North Dakota and has been active in his profession prof-ession since 1913. He served 22 months in the armed forces of the United States during World War No.l, thirteen months of which were overseas. He entered Camp Dodge, Iowa as a private in .September 1917 and was assigned to the 338 Field Artillery. And in July 1918 he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant Lieuten-ant following his schooling at Saumur, France. He was discharg ed at Camp Sherman, Ohio on June 21, 1919. Returning from the War he practiced law at Fargo and became be-came a leading member of the American Legion in the Gilbert C. Grafton Post No. 2, He served as Vice Commander of this Post, in 1930 and its Commander in 1931. Since 1932 he has been a member of the Department Executive Exe-cutive Committee and also its Department Employment Officer. 1934 he was elected Department Commander of North Dakota and for several years he served as a member of the National American Amer-ican Legion Publishing and Publicity Pub-licity Commission and during 1940-41 served as the national Chairman of the Rehabiltation Committee. In 1939 he served as president of the Chamber of Commerce Com-merce of Fargo, North Dakota. He was elected National Commander Com-mander of The American Legion at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. On his visit in Salt Lake City Mr. Stambaugh will be accompanied accom-panied by his wife, Enid E. Stambaugh Stam-baugh and his aid, Jack Williams, Department Adjutant of North Dakota. The party will arrive at the Salt Lake Air Port from i-.os Vagas, Nevada, and will visit with American Legion officials and attend an informal dinner for Legionnaires Leg-ionnaires at the New House Hotel and at a public meeting which will be held at 8 p. m. Commander Comman-der Stambaugh will discuss our National Defense and the work The American Legion is doing in helping to win this World War No. 2. The Department Executive Committee of Utah will hold its spring meeting at the New House Hotel at 10:30 a. m. Thursday March 26 and will complete the plans for the National Commander's Comman-der's visit and plans for the Department De-partment Convention in August. Legionnaires and their wive and friends from all over the state are invited to attend the meetings at Salt Lake City, on March 26. m |
