ALUMINUM MATS: Landing mats made of aluminum are thoroughly thor-oughly satisfactory, the army air force reveals, after a number of tests. Previously steel had been used for this purpose, but when the mat sections have to be transported by air, aluminum, which weighs less than half as much as steel is more satisfactory.
