Show Stock Cars To Open Trials Saturday Trials for the Stock Cars are going to be held this Saturday, May 16, 1959, at the Fair Grounds from 3 to 6 p.m. The public is invited to attend and become acquainted with the drivers and their cars. The trials are mainly for tuning the cars up for the season, getting the drivers dri-vers used to the track and driving dri-ving again. The Stock Car races are very thrilling to watch and make a good spectator sport if you like noise, speed, and excitement. The races are held every Saturday Sat-urday during the summer, starting with time trials at 7:30, and the regular races after they are through. The drivers compete for points, and are awarded points for the places they finish in, and also for the number of cars they pass. There are usually quite a few races per night, building up to the 30-lap semi-main event consis ting of 15 cars for the slower cars, and then the 15-car, 30-lap 30-lap main-event which has the faster fas-ter cars. The races are held on the one-quarter one-quarter mile, paved track at the Fair Grounds, with a roofed over grandstand for the comfort of the spectators. With new rules and changes in some of the regulations, the races promise to be more exciting than ever and should not be missed. bfe'. r9?jf W n vrP nil " ' .
