Show Lunch Program Gets $362,613 In U. S. Monies The U. S. Department of Agriculture's Ag-riculture's Production and Marketing Mar-keting Administration has allocated al-located $362,613 for local food purchases by Utah schools participating par-ticipating in the National School Lunch .program during1 the 1950-51 1950-51 school year. The allocation represents an increase of $23,844 over the amount received by Utah schools for the 1949-50 school year, when 327 out of the state's 521 secondary and elementary schools participated in the National Na-tional School Lunch program. About 53,500 out of a total of more than 145,600 Utah children enrolled in the schools received lunches under the program. Utah's allotment was a part of the $5,751,000 allocated by the USDA to the nine western states and Alaska. The funds are 1 apportioned on the basis of a formula which takes into account ac-count the number of children of school age and the per capita income of each state. |
