Show FARManiHOME&j I'TAH 8TATR EXTENSION SERVIf'R AUJUCULTURB HOME ECONOMICS By Louis A. Jensen County Agricultural Agent Since the publication of articles arti-cles on the plant called 'Kochia' in the Deseret News, Utah Farmer and other farm papers, many people have inquired about it. This plant is very common com-mon in the Uintah Basin and goes by the name of fire weed or alkali weed. It appears to be quite palatable pala-table to some types oi livestock, and is rather -high in protein. I doubt that it will replace alfalfa or some other good crops : where they can be grown. However, How-ever, under certain soil conditions, condi-tions, such as alkali or poor drainage, this plant can probably prob-ably be used advantageously. A farmer in the Delta area produced seed this year. We have requested information as to the price and amount for sale. This information will be made available to those who are interested. in-terested. Alfalfa seed producers and beekeepers are invited to attend at-tend a three-day conference, or short course, at Logan, December Decem-ber 1-3. Anyone in Duchesne county who is interested in attending should contact me for further details. The bread making demonstrations demonstra-tions in the county recently by Elna Miller, were well attended attend-ed in Duchesne, Roosevelt aud Mt. Emmons. It appears that some of our ladies are still interested in-terested in this old art.
