Show Fitst Session Of New City Council "Marked By Heavy Business Schedule Administration Completed; Committees, Officers Approved The first regular meeting of the new city council proved a busy one Monday night, as the councilmen, 100 per cent accounted ac-counted for, packed a lot of work into a four-hour session. Present were Mayor Homer P. Edwards; Bennie Schmiett, Paul Murphy, Don Johnson, Elmer El-mer Eldredge, and Steve Bel-Ion, Bel-Ion, councilmen; George Hacking, Hack-ing, recorder; and DeVoe Lambert, Lam-bert, treasurer. The council (1) heard a request re-quest from Marvin Oldroyd anc Albert Crumbo, of the Roosevelt Roos-evelt Trap club, for a lease to build a club house on the trap club grounds south of town. Tho matter was turned over to the city property committee for investigation. in-vestigation. (2) Approved committee and city officer appointments made " by Mayor Edwards. (3) Approved the purchase of a C02 gun by the fire department, depart-ment, and the appointing, by Fire Chief Carl Hacking, of firemen as special officers with police powers whenever needed. (4) Considered application f Pat Roberts for a concession stand at the Softball field, to be operated by the Roosevelt First Ward. (5) Approved necessary expenses ex-penses for establishment of a traffic light at the junction of Highway 40 and Main street, near Crumbo Motor Co. (6) Discussed revision of city ordinances, the city - manager form of government, and a step-ped-up recreational program, as promised in the Progressive party par-ty platform.
