Show Nine Tracts Of Oil - Lease Lands let Over $40,009 Over $40,000 was bid Thursday, Thurs-day, June 1, for oil and gas leases on nine 40-acre tracts of restricted individually-owned Indian In-dian land, located in Sections 1-11-12, Township 2 South, Range 1 East, Forrest R. Stone, superintendent super-intendent of the Uintah and Ouray Ou-ray agency, announced this week. Successful bidders were Carter Car-ter and Stanolind Oil companies, compan-ies, and W. C. Lowler, of Salt Lake City. The Texas Co. also placed bids. According to agency officials, as much as $88 per acre was paid for land leases which two years ago brought bids of only $2.20 per acre. Carter apd Stanolind. bidding jointly, acquired leases on seven of the nine tracts. They paid $115.57 per acre, or a total sum of $4,622.80 each, to Mary Harris, Har-ris, Delia Harris, Henry E. Harris Jr., Clarence Harris, and Anna Pike, for leases on their land tracts. They leased tracts of land from Mary Harris Denver and Adiah Harris for $57.11 per acre, or a total sum of $2,284.40 each. In acquiring . leases on land tracts belonging to John E. Harris Har-ris and Muse Harris, Mr. Lowler bid $155.52, or a total sum of $6,222.80, on each of the two tracts, highest bids during the day. Further oil and gas bids will be accepted Saturday at the agency on four units, totaling approximately 527 acres, located in Sections 23-24-26-27-32-33-34, T9S, 25E., and in Sec. 5, T10S, R25E, Salt Lake Base and Meridian. |
