Show Disabled Vets Can Qualify For Tax Exemptions Veterans who are 25 per cent disabled, or more, are entitled to a $3,000 pro rata real and personal property tax exemption exemp-tion in Utah. Unmarried widows and dependents of deceased veterans vet-erans also are eligible for this tax exemption. However, this exemption is not automatically given to those eligible to receive them, points out Porter L. Merrell, county clerk. Application for the exemption must be made to the county commissioners before May 1 of each year. Forms for filing the veteran exemptions are available at the clerk's office. This must be filed along with the disability rating sheet issued each year from the Veterans Administration Office to every veteran who is entitled to disability consideration. A veteran entitled to 100 per cent disability rating receives the full $3,000 tax value exemption. ex-emption. One who is but 25 per cent disabled, according to the disability rating, is allowed one fourth of this $3,000 maximum exemption, Mr. Merrell explained. |
