Show KIWANIS SCOUT TROOP NEARS ORGANIZATION Plans were virtually completed complet-ed last Monday night for the organization of the Kiwanis Boy Scout troop as 12. boys, who are not affiliated with the scouting program, and their parents met with the recently appointed troop committee of the Roosevelt Roos-evelt Kiwanis club at the American Amer-ican Legion hall. Presiding over the meeting was Don Nielson, troop committee commit-tee chairman, and J. D. Walker, ' Kiwanis president, assisted by DaleAshby, scoutmaster. President Presi-dent Walker explained the purpose pur-pose of Kiwanis to the group and how they were anxious to get the youth of this community active in scouting and other projects pro-jects that would build them up morally, physically and spirtiual-ly. spirtiual-ly. The next" meeting of the boys who are to enroll in the Kiwanis troop is called for Monday, May 7, at the Legion hall, where plans will be formulated to begin be-gin active work as a troop. Mr. Ashby will be in charge of the meeting, and will explain the requirements for scouts to the boys. |
