Show This Week's RECIPE . . . Following are two recipes for cakes, which have been submitted submit-ted by Mrs. Gilbert McKenna, who states that they are "no fail." Chocolate Cake Sift together: 2 cups cake flour, 1 tsp. soda 1 tsp. salt, and 1-13 cups sugar Add: 3A cup milk Vi cup shortening and beat well. Add: 2 squares unsweetened un-sweetened choc-late choc-late melted 2 eggs cup milk 1 tsp vanilla, and beat well. Bake at 360 degrees for 25 minutes. min-utes. Makes 2 large layers. Plain Cake Cream well: Vi cup shortening 1 cup sugar Add: 2 eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Sift together three times:: 2 cups cake flour 2 level tsp baking bak-ing powder V tsp. salt and add alternately to above with 1 cup milk, beating beat-ing well after each addition. Add: 1 tsp. vanilla Bake 25 minutes at 350 deg. Makes 2 layers. Top with seven minute frosting. |
