Show Stake Gold-Oreen I Balls Draw Large 1 Two-flight Crowds Spring in all its splendor was portrayed at the annual Stake Gold and Green balls, held last Thursday and Friday evenings in the Roosevelt LDS Stake recreation rec-reation hall. Thursday night's dance was limited to adults, while Friday's dance was reserved re-served for the Beehive girls and Scouts. Selecting "Spring" as the theme for this y e a r's festive event, the decorations were unusually un-usually lovely, with murals fea- , turing saucy little blue birds perched on flower-covered limbs ' beneath a ceiling of beautiful 1 pastel streamers. Flowers and ! bluebirds artistically arranged ! about the stage completed the I elaborate scheme. ! A delightful floor show was ( presented Thursday evening, un- ( der the direction of Theron ( Leavltt, stake dance director. ( The queens from each ward ( were presented as follows: Ma- ( rie Eldredge, Ballard; Betty As- , ay, Bennett; Afton Bodily, Mof- , fatt; Loene Powell, Montwel, , Renae Gilbert, Roosevelt first : ward; Cleo Allred, Neola; Elva J Mae Chandler, Randlett; JeNee j Benson, Roosevelt 2nd ward; j Donna Christensen, Whiterocks; j Rowena Russell, Ioka. Dances 6 were presented by the Myton, (j and Moffat wards and Miss Bev- ft erley White and Jack Bacon sang the theme song. The pro- gram concluded with the pre- sentation of favors to the queens by Dr. R. V. Larson. Mrs. Marj Chrittendon was in charge of the decorations. Mrs. Elva Stewart, Mrs. Ellen Rawlings, Rawl-ings, Mrs. LaRue Laris and and Mrs. Jean Snow were in charge of the refreshments. Friday evenings dance drew an exceptionally large crowd when the beehive girls and boy scouts from all over the stak convened at the recreation hall to enjoy dancing and and a floor show presented by the Myton. Ioka, Montwel. Neola and Roosevelt Roos-evelt wards. Eleven queens were crowned during the evenings eve-nings festivities and were presented pre-sented with corsages by Don Johnson, Stake YMMIA president. pres-ident. Refreshments were served under the direction of Mrs. Elva El-va Stewart. Others helping with arrangements were Mrs. Helen Larson, who assisted with the tickets, and Mrs. Millie Stevens, who took charge of the floor show. |
