Show Sinking Perils Ioka Lane Road Tons of dirt and rock have sunk about 50 or 60 feet adjacent to the head of the Ioka lane road, near Rovoli, and threaten the road itself, according to Lyman Ly-man Burdick, state road foreman for state roadshed No. 56. The road is still open, but Mr. Burdick believes the sinking, if continued, will soon engulf it. An engineer of the state road department depart-ment is expected out Friday ; to appraise the situation. Mr. Burdick said he judges judg-es the sinking started Sunr day night, and was possibly caused by water seeping down from the top. He said the state road department has about $15,000 of gravel in the vicinity, some of which has already gone with the slide, and the other is likely to go unless moved shortly. |
