Show SOCIETY Peggy Oldroyd, Society Reporter ENTERTAINS AT LUNCHEON Delphinium and roses added a touch of early summer loveliness loveli-ness to the rooms when Mrs. R. S. Jordan entertained at a dessert des-sert luncheon Friday at her home in compliment to Mrs. Marc Wilkins and Mrs. Irvin Young, of California, who are visiting here. Her guest list numbered twelve, and included Mrs. Ben-nie Ben-nie Schmiett, Mrs. Clair Ashton, Mrs. Gordon Harmston, Mrs. Jack McLea, Mrs. Eugene Harmston, Harm-ston, Mrs. Wayne Malin, Mrs. Sam Weiss, Mrs. Homer P. Edwards, Ed-wards, Mrs. Les Mullins, Mrs. Vean Bair, and the guests of honor. Canasta provided relaxation, following luncheon. JUST-A-MERE Mrs. Darrell Walker was hostess to eight members of Just-A-Mere club at her home Wednesday evening, June 28. Following tempting light refreshments, re-freshments, two tables were arranged ar-ranged for bridge. Prizes were won by Mrs. Farrell Wilkins, Mrs. Reva Owen, and Mrs. Ed Labrum. BRIDGETTE Bouquets of delphiniums and pinks formed a striking background back-ground when Mrs. Elmer El-dredge El-dredge entertained members of her bridge club at her home on July 6. Following a tempting salad-course salad-course luncheon, two tables were arranged for bridge, with prizes going to Mrs. Parley Rawlings, Mrs. Mont Killian, and Mrs. Ned Bellon. ENTERTAIN AT DINNER Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dillman entertained at dinner Monday evening at their home, in honor hon-or of the ministers from the Baptist church, who are here to conduct a vacation Bible school this week at Myton. Their guest list included Rev. Charles Ray of the Roosevelt Baptist church, Rev. Lawson Pritchett, of Texas; Dan White, a divinity student at Baylor University; Lewis Martin, a divinity di-vinity student at Georgetown College; George W. Hightower, and Dorothy Scherlock. BIRTHDAY CELEBRATED A bright spot on the week's social calendar was the birthday party at the Thomas Halen residence resi-dence July 7, commemorating Mrs. Halen's birthday anniversary. anniver-sary. A delectable buffet luncheon was served to approximately I twenty guests. NEW OFFICERS INSTALLED Members of the American Legion Le-gion Auxiliary, Basin Unit 64, held their annual installation meeting at the Roosevelt Legion barracks last week, with Mrs. Clista Angus, past president and present district president of the American Legion Auxiliary, as installing officer. Directing club activities during dur-ing the coming season will be Mrs. Mary Burgess, president; Mrs. Bliss Eldredge, 1st vice-president; vice-president; Mrs. Alyce Aycock, 2nd vice president; Mrs. Norma Bellon, treasurer; Mrs. Pearl Redmond, historian; Mrs. Erma Sutteer, secretary; Mrs. Leah Allred, sergeant-at-arms; Mrs. Bee Jordan, Mrs. Ruth Sturgeon, Stur-geon, and Mrs. Clista Angus, members of the executive board. Mrs. Murel Kolb, the outgoing out-going president, served delicious refreshments at the close of the meeting. IOKA GIRL TO WED Of interest to her many Basin Mends is the announcement of the engagement and forthcoming forthcom-ing marriage of Mrs. Genavieve Carruth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Webb, of Ioka, to Arvel Hunter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hunter, of Ontario, Oregon. Wedding vows will be recited Friday, July 21 in the Idaho Falls LDS temple. Mrs. Carruth recently fulfilled ful-filled a mission for the Ioka Ward in the North - Central States LDS mission field. Mr. Hunter is a former student stu-dent at Brigham Young university, univer-sity, Provo, and the Utah State Agricultural college, Logan. He also fulfilled a recent mission to the North-Central states for the LDS church. TUESDAY BRIDGE Charming hospitality prevailed prevail-ed Tuesday evening when Mrs. B e n n i e Schmiett entertained members of her club. Arrangements of summer roses ros-es and delphinium added a gay touch to the rooms where four tables were laid for a delicious luncheon. Bridge formed the remainder of the evening's entertainment, following luncheon. Prizes were won by Mrs. Clair Ashton, Mrs. aul Wilkins, and Mrs. Eugene Harmston. i |
