Show By Mrs. Merle Ross Sunday School Presents Program The Sunday School presented a very impressive Easter program Sunday morning. Naomi Gilbert acted as reader and the following responded with talks: LeGrande Gilbert, Chad Evans, Jack Gilbert, Rulon Gilbert, Clarence Horrocks Thomas Gilbert, Gale Larsen, Marv Bell and Irvin Johnson. Quite an unusual display was a Christmas cactus with a profusion of sixty blossoms. Visitors were Mr. and' Mrs. Kent Jensen of Provo, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Campbell of . Rochester, Minnesota, Min-nesota, Mr. Campbell's sister, Winnie Win-nie also of Rochester, and Ronnie Calvin of Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Marv Bell attended the Junior Prom at Altamont Friday Fri-day night. Mr. and Mrs. Byron Gilbert and family of Provo spent the weekend week-end at the home of his parent's, Mr. and Mrs John Gilbert. Joyce and Janis Beal of Salt Lake are spending their spring vacation at trie' home of their sister sis-ter and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. LeGrande Gilbert. Colleen Bench of Salt Lake City was a Sunday visitor at the home of Donna Ross. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Shields and daughters of Roosevelt had their Easter dinner Saturday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs Marvin Shields. Easter visitors at the Bill Tanner Tan-ner home weTe Mr. and Mrs. Kent Jensen of Provo, Charlie Jensen of American Fork and Ronnie Calvin of Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Hale Holgate spent the week in Salt Lake City, where he attended' a state agricultural convention at Hotel Utah from Tuesday till Friday. They returned home Friday night, bringing their granddaughters, Gloria, Janet and Marilyn, children of Mr. and Mrs. Sharon Holgate, to spend their spring vacation with them. Mrs. Stanley Ross, who had spent the week in Salt Lake also returned home with them. After visiting the week with her mother, Mrs. Merle Ross, Mrs. Gwen Bodily and son, Merrill returned re-turned to their home in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Scott Lusty and Dicia Emert of. Roosevelt accompanied them to the Capitol City. Easter Sunday found Mr. and j Mrs. Marvin Shields as dinner ' guests at the home of their son ! and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Wanless Shields of Brid'geland. Mr. and Mrs. John Gilbert have spent most of the week in Duchesne Du-chesne getting their, new -business ready for the public. They recently purchasd the Polar Queen Roy Rust of Altamont spent Saturday at the Thomas Gilbert farm, where he purchased a milk cooler. Mr. and Mrs Stanley Ross were visiting at the' Orsen Allen home in Duchesne" Sunday afternoon. Bus Stauffer of Salt Lake City took advantage of the spring vacation va-cation and is spending it as a guest of his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Marti. Beverly Olsen, who is working in Vernal, spent Easter Sunday visiting her son, Kim, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Johnson. John-son. She was accompanied by' Gary Barney of Vernal. Fred' Evans and Lynn Ross went to Vernal Wednesday with the Roosevelt Jr. High basketball team, where they won their game with Uintah's ninth grade team. Rulon Gilbert spent Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Salt Lake, where he attended the FFA convention con-vention at Hotel Utah. Mr. and Mrs. LeGrande Gilbert, Joyce and Janis Beal spent Easter Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Glen Mecham at Mt. Home. Clarence Horrocks took his son, Evan, to Salt Lake, Thursday for a medical check-up. Evan had developed de-veloped muscular dystrophy, it being be-ing cine of the diseases that is still baffling science, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Evans, children Kent and Connie of Salt Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Ward Evans and family of Vernal called on Mr. and Mrs. Chad Evans Saturday. Satur-day. The entire group proceeded to Altamont, where they were joined by Mr. and Mrs Irvin Snow for their Easter picnic, a bit early for picnicking, but they reported a very enjoyable day. Mr. and Mrs. Cliff McKenna and family of Orem spent the Easter holiday visiting friends and rela- tives The McKenna family were residents here prior to their moving mov-ing to Orem. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wheeler of Grand Junction, Colo, called on friends Friday. The Wheelers lived here for a while, having purchased the Frank Horrocks home, which they later sold to Scott Lusty. Dick Campbell and daughter, Marlene, and sister, Winnie, arrived ar-rived from- Rochester, Minn. Tuesday'. Tues-day'. They have been guests of Mr. and Mrs. Eld'on Thompson. Mrs. Campbell and daughter, Sharlene have been visiting here for some time. Sunday they all left for a return trip to their home. ATTENDED COURT OF HONOR Attending the Boy Scout Court of Honor at Hanna, Sunday were: Mr. and Mrs. Bill Tanner, Mr. and Mrs. Arden Evans, Rulon Gilbert Gladys Capson, Bessie Lusty, Fred Evans, Clark Lusty, Bob Tanner. Evan Lusty, Frosty Gilbert, Roland Capson, Leon Ross, Lair and Baird Evans. Leon received a 2nd Class badge and Fred also received a 2nd Class badge. Bob got two merit badges, one in horsemanship and one in cooking. Arden Evans is the scoutmaster, Bill Tanner and Clark Lusty are committeemen. committee-men. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gilbert had their new son blessed Sunday. David Olsen was the name given him. Porter Merrell and daughter, Cheryl and Sandra from Duchesne, came down for the event. MIA GIVES PROGRAM Further commemorating the Easter Eas-ter Sunday was the' special program pro-gram under the direction of the MIA that was given Sunday' evening. eve-ning. Scripture readings were given giv-en by Laird and Baird Evans, Betty Bet-ty Evans, Clarence Beal and Donna Don-na Richens. Talks were given by Jack Gilbert and Scott Lusty. Splendid musical . numbers were given as follows: solo, Mrs Rudy Marti and Naomi Gilbert;, duet. Nancy Tanner and Eleanor Cap-son, Cap-son, and a double' trio by six little girls, Lucy and Margaret Lusty, Rosalie, Wendy, Jean and Tanna Gilbert. |
