Show Union Concludes Successful ; fntermura! Unit A very successful -boys' intramural intra-mural basketball program was concluded recently ' at Union High School. Seventy-two toys and 5 faculty members :.. represented 1 1 teams. The boys picked their own teams and teams captains. The 1 1 teams were rdivifl'ed into two leagues, the "Big? 5" and the "Big 6." as far as it was possible, the younger boys were placed in the' "Big 5" and the.' oldeT ones and the faculty team in the "Big 6." Each league played a round robin schedule with the respective league champions competing for the' intramural championship of the school. The program was supervised su-pervised by DeVon Andrus, faculty facul-ty advisor and Snellen Johnson, student manager. Members of the Union varsity basketball team provided pro-vided the' game officials and members mem-bers of the junior varsity took care of the scoring and timing League statitistician was Darrell Atkinson. All games were played during the noon lunch period. The keenness of the competition is attested by the final standings in each league: "BIG 5" W L Pet. Junior Playboys 3 1 .750 Snails 3 1 .750 Bulldogs 2 2 .500 Flat Foots 1 3 .250 Pot Shots -13 .250 The Junior Playboys defeated the Snails 15-11 in the play-off game for the league championship. "BIG 6" W L Pet. FFA Slop Shots 3 2 .600 Jokers 3 2 .600 La Pointers 3 2 .600 Palefaces 3 2 .600 Faculty 3 2 .600 Trojans 0 5 .000 The five-way tie in this league was played off in a single elimination elimina-tion tournament, the final game of which was won by the Faculty 21-19 from the Palefaces. The school championship game fizzled out as the Faculty was unable un-able to field a team and by virtue of a previously agreed on rule, forfeited to the Junior Playboys, who thus became Union High School intramural basketball champions cham-pions for 1956.
