Show Award Night Is Ward Feature On Sunday, July 19 v Impressive Sunday evening services were under the direction direc-tion of the M.I.A., when individual individ-ual awards were presented to several young members. From the Explorer group, the following were present to receive re-ceive their citations: Neil Dun can, Lloyd Duncan, Sheldon Spencer, Ralph Anderton, Fer-rell Fer-rell Crozier. Von Whiting r.nd Larry Dye were eligible, hut were absent. The boys were to have received pins also, but due to the unusually heavy demand for them they were unobtainable unobtain-able at present. Talks were also given by Sheldon Spencer and Lloyd Duncan. Leader of the group, Neil Jensen, is . to be complimented on the outstanding record he has helped these young men achieve. Floyd Ross, stake activity ac-tivity leader, was also a speaker, speak-er, and spoke highly of the work being done. A trumpet solo, by Warden Olsen, was rendered between speakers. Individual awards and corsages cor-sages were presented to Char- Lotte Henrie, Sherene Henrie, Phyllis Eksund, ArVella Fk-sund, Fk-sund, Mona Allred, Connie Bas tian. Karen Bastian, Faith Dye, LaVon Dye; also corsages and individual awards for leaders to Lillian Wilkerson, Delma Bastian, Bas-tian, Norma Crozier, Marguerite Dye and Rose Olsen. This was done by Stake Leader Deatha Olsen. Special recognition was given LaRene Duncan, who had a 100 attendance at M.I. A., Sunday School and Sacrament meeting during the- past year. A patriotic program was also presented, with Ann Peterson and Delma Bastian as narrators and Phyllis Wardle as accompanist. accom-panist. The inspirational services ser-vices were concluded by a solo "The Lord's Prayer," by Ferris Henrie Mrs. Guy Johnson and Mrs. Alta Hurley, of the Primary Stake Board, visited the Neola Primary last Thursday. Visitors at the home of Bishop Bish-op Richard Olsen last week included in-cluded Mrs. Ruth Fredrickson and Mrs. Margaret Wallace, sisters sis-ters of Mrs. Olsen, and their families, also Mrs. Anne Jor-gensen, Jor-gensen, mother of Mrs. Olsen. Lillian Wilkerson and Phyllis Wardle attended the U.B.I.C. try-outs in Tridell last Thursday. IN NEW HOME Ruffled yellow curtains at the windows announce that Mr and Mrs. LaZell Henrie have moved into their new home.- The attractive fence, cement driveway drive-way and well-graded soil for the new lawn, all combine to add greatly to the appearance of the townsite. Weekend visitors at the Oluf Duncan home were Mr. and Mrs. Tom Smith and children and Mrs. Evans, mother of Mrs. Smith, of Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Knowles of Ogden, spent a few days last week at their home here, re-' re-' cently purchased from LaZell Henrie. They expect to move here some time in August or September. Mr. and Mrs. Arvis Allred and daughter, of Springville, were guests recently at the home of Mr. Allred's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Allred. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Jacobsen visited at the home of Mrs. Jacobsen's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Duncan. Mr. and Mrs. Tal Wardle, Mr. and Mrs. Orlando' Pace, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Leavitt accompanied accom-panied Miss Delores Hutcheon to Logan last Tuesday, where her marriage to Glen Eldredge took place. Charles Woodward, of Death Valley, Calif.., is spending two weeks here with his mother, Mrs. Jennie Woodward. Mrs. Kate Peterson, of the Primary Stake Board, visited the Ioka ward Primary Thursday Thurs-day of last week. Sunday visitors at the Theroii Horrocks -home were Mrs. Mary Gerber. Mrs. Carma Donlevy and two children, of American Fork; Mr. and Mrs. Warren Maw, of Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. Rowland Nelson and two daughters, of Richland, Washington. Ira A. TO JOIN HUSBAND Mrs. Justin Fuell has received word that she will sail for Africa Afri-ca in the near future to join her husband, who is stationed there. She is to be on the East Coast by July 30th. Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Dye and family, Mr. and Mrs. Glade Davis and two sons attended the Cloward reunion, which was held last Sunday in Liberty Park, Salt Lake City. HOMES REPAIRED Several local homes are undergoing un-dergoing treatment to add to their durability and appearance. The roofs on the homes of Ivan Bastian, Wayne Bastian and Jay Larsen, Sr. have received a coat of red shingle stain, while the home of Jennie Woodward is being covered with asbestos siding. After spending the past month at the home of their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. El-roy El-roy Halverson, Terry and Blaine Labrum left last Monday for their home in Midvale. Their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Labrum and the family plan on going through the Manti Temple, Tem-ple, Wednesday of this week. Mrs. Don Gardner has returned re-turned to her home after spending spend-ing a . few days here with her parents, Mr and Mrs. George Leavitt. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Harrison made a - business trip to Salt Lake City last Monday. A NEW BABY Proud parents of a brand new son are Mr. and Mrs. Glade Peterson. The new heir, who made his entrance last Frid y at the Roosevelt Hospital will answer to the name of Jess Clark. Sharing the lime-light with paternal grandmother, Lillian Lil-lian Wilkerson, is' Mrs. Clark, of Evanston, Wyoming, mothei of Mrs. Peterson. She will visit with her daughter and son-in-law for a few days, and aid in curbing the demonstrations of affection which small sister, Cheryl Lynn will attempt to shower on her small brother. Friends of Mrs. Bill Yack are happy to see her home again after her recent hospitalization. She has been a patient in the Roosevelt Hospital with a comparatively com-paratively mild attack of polio. Mrs. Alta Kimball was a Sunday Sun-day visitor at' the home of her sister, Mrs. James O. Peterson. Mrs. LaRue Burgess was a guest of Mrs. Ruth Jensen two days last week. Ronald Eksund returned Monday Mon-day evening from a business j trip to New Mexico. The family left Tuesday morning for Salt Lake City. Florence Lee and Sara Glines, of Vernal, visited relatives in Neola last Monday. Howard Lee remained here for a few days visit at the Theron Horrocks home. Dale Peterson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thad Wilkerson, is enjoying enjoy-ing a thirty-day leave, greeting friends and relatives. He has been stationed at various U. S. Naval bases in the Pacific and will return to Korea at the con-pletion con-pletion of his present leave. |
