Show BASIN BRIEFS D U P meeting will be heldat the home of Lela Labrum, Friday, Fri-day, December 31, at 3 p. m. Ruth and James Aitkcn, of England, sister and brother of Mrs. Reed Hancock, arrived in the United States aboard the ship Britanic. They will stay at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hancock. Ruth has enrolled as a student at Roosevelt high school. Ray Johnston returned last week to Hamilton Air Force base at Hamilton Field, California, after a two-week furlough spent here with his mother. He expects ex-pects to be transferred to an Alaskan base early in January. Mrs. Walt Redmond and Mrs. Quiv Lawson were hostesses at a holiday dinner in honor of Dan Redmond and Fred Hitchwell, of Grass Valley, California. Other guests enjoying the occasion were Floyd Redmond, Helen Redmond, Ray Johnston and Mrs. N. K. Johnston. Paul Hardinger, seaman, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. George M. Hardinger, of Roosevelt, is serving serv-ing aboard the light cruiser, USS Pasadena. The Pasadena is a unit of Task Force 38, which is now undergoing under-going an intensive training period per-iod in the western Pacific and the China sea area. Members of the Roosevelt Lions club will be feted by their wives at a banquet in the new Frontier Grill, Monday, December Decem-ber 27. The party will help to initiate the opening of the new Grill, as well as launch a membership mem-bership drive. All members of the Lions club, and their guests are invited to the banquet and program. The Uintah Basin not only raises big livestock, but its hens lay big eggs as well. Recently an egg from the John Angus farm was brought to the Standard Stand-ard office. It weighed a fraction less than one pound! The Fort Duchesne Women's club held its annual Christmas party at the club house. Thursday Thurs-day evening, December 16, with Mrs. Lorcna Iorg, Mrs. Mary Barrett and Miss Erna Greene acting as hostesses. Group singing and Christmas recordings furnished the evening's eve-ning's entertainment, after which a tasty luncheon was served to twenty-six members. Mrs. Grace Lambert attended as a club guest. |
