Show Senator Wat kins Announces Exams For O.S. Academies Senator Arthur V. Watkins will authorize Civil Service examinations ex-aminations for those who desire appointments to West Point and Annapolis for 1949. The examinations exami-nations will be held on January 17, 1949 at some convenient place, or places, in Utah, and the exact hour and place will be announced later. Anyone desiring an appointment appoint-ment to either of these schools should contact Senator Watkins immediately by writing "him at his address: 348 Senate Office Building, Washington, D. C. Senator Watkins now has one vacancy at West Point and three at Annapolis. He intends to appoint ap-point as principals the ones making mak-ing the highest grades on the Civil Service examinations, where they otherwise qualify, and the others as alternates. Candidates for appointment to West Point are eligible for admission ad-mission from the day they are 17 (or 19 if appointed from the National Guard or Regular Army) until the day they become 22 years of age. Candidates for appointment to Annapolis must be between the ages of 17 and 21 years, except that any candidate who has served serv-ed honorably for not less than one year in any of the Armed Forces of the United States during1 dur-ing1 the recent war and prior to the formal declaration of peace may be admitted up to 23 years of age. The age limits are established estab-lished by law. All candidates must be citizens citi-zens of the United States and legal le-gal residents of the State of Utah. |
