Show SCHOOL BOA ELECTION 01 CEMBER FIFTH terms of L W jones and claud B payne expire january 1 the terms oi of two members of the board of education lewis W jones of monroe representing precinct no 2 consisting of monroe central and annabella and claud B payne representing precinct no 4 consisting of sigurd vermilion glenwood and koo sharem expire january 1 the law requires an election to be held on the first wednesday in december which will be december 5 the call was published in our legal columns last week and already candidates are being discussed and petitions for nominations have been sent to the school board office so far petitions are in ill for the of mr jones as well as for mr payne and precinct no 2 petitions also for the n nomination omina of nephi nielson of i monroe NI Onroe 1 mr jones is at pre present sent th the e presiding officer of the board and has been a member of this body nearly sixteen years havi having ng served on the local body before the consolidation of school districts had been effected he is is thoroughly acquainted with the affairs of the board of education and has hag served in a manner de deserving of highest praise he not only had always at heart the needs of his own precinct but with broad mind took care of anything and everything that was needed in tho the other precincts of the district his qualifications are recognized by the state board of education and his counsel and advice are sought frequently in matters concerning educational affairs of the state the other member whose term expires mr payne came in as a new man four years ao a ago o and immediately grasped his duties dutie s in a manner reflecting ting his excellent qualifications for the job thoughtful and dependable broad minded and fully imbued with the importance of his office he be was quickly recognized as a valuable member of the board it is not more than an appreciation of services rendered and gratitude for these services well rendered that both men were put up as candidates for reelection election re there are several important matters to be taken care of by the board in the near future most important among them a solution of the building program in those places where new houses are badly needed like aurora salina and monroe and improvements respecting houses and sanitation in several other places relief is imperative but up to now the board could not commence teal work thereon because hampered by the financial conditions of the district those two men know all phases of the situation and in our opinion the district would be best served by their election reelection re rc |
