Show Jury Finds Three Guilty Of Burglary Transients Convicted in Looting of Mt. Pleasant Store Last Mont$h Frank Coyle, 53, Mackay, Idaho; Fred Black, 31, Portland, Oregon, and Arthur Welsh, 36, Charles, Illinois, were convicted Thursday by a jury in the Seventh judicial district court at- Manti before Judge Dilworth Wooley of burglary burg-lary in the second degree, and Saturday were found guilty of robbery. Time for passing sentence sen-tence was set for Monday at 10 a. m. These men, together with a fourth, not yet apprehended, en-te.cd en-te.cd the general merchandise store :f O. M. Aldrich & Sons at Mt. Picasmt during the early mrrning hours of December 15, taking merchandise to the amount cf $1500. Just prior to this they had burglarized the North Sanpete Motor company, operated by Osmond Os-mond Crowther, of about $50 In cash, gas, oil and other items for servicing their car. They also overpowered W. K. Petersen, city marshal, and, after ta'.:ing his revolver, bound and gagged him and left him tied to a staiiway in the Aldrich store. This was the basis of the robbery charge. The car used by them was later recovered, with most of the merchandise mer-chandise in it, about a mile and a half northwest of Thistle, by Sheriff E. G. Durnell of Utah county. The men were appreiiended in Salt Lake a week later by Sheriff S. Grant Young and five deputies. |
