Show Sanpete Dairy Herd Improvement Im-provement Association Gives Monthly Report The Sanpete Dairy Herd Improvement Im-provement Association has just completed its first six months record rec-ord in the filing of the January monthly report by the cow tester. Albert Madsen, of Fairview Is own er of the hiyh cow, Eetsy a registered regis-tered Holstein which produced 2015 pounds of milk and 68.5 pounds ol fat during the 30 days Olie Olson of Ephraim leads the high herds ir the association with less than 12 cows, with his herd of six registered regis-tered Jerseys producing an average per head of 723 pounds of milk and 42.4 pounds of butter fat. Stott Brothers of Manti leads the high herds of more han 12 cows with their grade Holstein herd of 20 cows which produced on an average per cow of 832 pounds of milk and 29.6 pounds of butterfat in the 30 day period. There are 52 herds and 467 cows in the association; 410 cows were in milk and 57 dry; each of the 467 cows averaged 26.6 pounds of butterfat; but-terfat; there were 53 cows that produced pro-duced over 40 pounds of fat. It was necessary to hire a cow tester during the month, Ernest O. Riggs, who succeeded Calvin Wlx-om. Wlx-om. Mr. Wixom was released from his contract by the association associa-tion officers to accept a more re-numerative re-numerative position on a reclamation reclama-tion project in Montana. The tester is hired in cooperation with Sevier County. Feed cost per 100 pounds of milk was 81 cents per pound, of fat 23 cents. |
