Tolman In the headUne bout at the Armory Arm-ory Wednesday, Red Balle of Proi vo won a very decisive victory over Fritz Tolman of Tooele, in spite of the excessive weight of Tolman. He tipped the scales at 179 while Balle broke them at 164 pounds. At the begining of the bout and for the first three rolunds it looked as though Tolman would probably win, but as time passed Balle seemed seem-ed to improve and get stronger while Tolman started to weaken. After the sixth round there was no question as to who would win; Balle had the situation in hand and was the master of the fight. In the tenth round the towel came into the ring from Tolman's corner, but Tolman would not stand for it and kicked it back out, although he was in bad shape. Balle Is fast coming to the front as a fighter, and will have to be considered with the leading lead-ing state champions in his weight. In the semi-finals Tuffy Richards lost to Jay Carlston in one of the fastest bouts ever seen In Mt. Pleasant. Pleas-ant. A battle like this one only happens once in a great while. Both men went into the first round to rush the other right off his feet, and continued throughout the bout. It was by far the fastest slugging feast ever seen in Mt. Pleasant. Evan Beck won a decision over Freston in four rounds of fast boxing. box-ing. Burnside won over Ray Beck when Beck was unable o come back in the fourth round. The chip weight champions fought to a draw. The Armory was packed to a banner ban-ner house to see one of the greatest cards ever put on here. The roof was nearly taken away at times by the spirited cheering and yelling cf the fans, as they were carried away with the spirit of the game. |
