Show Taxes Paid On 'Phantom' Land To pay taxes on property that does not even exist has been the experience of Niels Rasmussen of Mt. Pleasant, according to a claim filed with the Sanpete county commission at Manti. The claim sets forth the fact that through an error in fixing the valuation of a parcel of land in 1917, twice the number of acres actually owned by Mr. Rasmussen was set forth in the assessment rolls. This error has gone unnoticed until the present pres-ent time. Approximately $1200 has been paid erroneously, according to Mr. Rasmussen. Although the county commissioners commis-sioners are of the opinion that the county has not been entitled to these taxes during the past 15 years, they can see no legal way to reimburse Mr. Rasmussen. |
