Show Fall Upon Ice s Proves Fatal s Veteran Educator Dies of h Injuries Suffered on Slippery Walk E; Christian J. Jensen, 66, veteran educator of Ogden, died Saturday ( at 5:30 a. m. in an Ogden hispital Yf of a basal skull fracture received January 22 at 9 a. m., when he slipped and fell on an icy side--s walk at the Weber county high s school seminary, where he was an (j, instructor. f. Mr. Jensen was born in Mt. Pleasant, December 20, 1865, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Christian J. Jen- sen. In his youth he attended fi. the Brigham Young university at ?e Provo, receiving a degree of bachelor bach-elor arts. In the summer of 1931. 1 at the age of 65, he was accorded 1 the degree of master of arts from t that institution, s Mr. Jensen taught school at Mt ' ! Pleasant and was later principal 6 of the school several years. He later taught at Snow college in " Ephraim, and then at Summit J stake academy in Coalville. He Os came to Ogden and was an in- structor for 18 yeras at the Weber " academy. He taught for three ' years at the L. D. S. seminary in is Garland and then returned toi Ci Ogden to teach at the L. D. S. seminary at the Weber county " high school. Mr. Jensen married his first wife, Miss Rozella Garnworth, L. October 23, 1889. She died on July 20, 1924. He married Rachel ' Middleton on October 25, 1929, ' who survives him. Also surviving are four sons and daughters by his first wife: Mrs. Minnie J. Kingston, G. Fred, Viola and lone Jensen, Ogden; four brothers j and sisters, Mrs. Maggie Seely and k Louis Jensen, Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. i Henry Larter. Mackay, Idaho; Hans Jensen, Huntington. Impressive funeral services were held at the South ward chapel Monday at 1 p. m. for Christian J. Jensen of Ogden, former resident resi-dent of this city. Bishop A. L. Peterson was in charge. Music was by the choir. A vocal solo "O Dry Those Tears, with organ and piano accompani ment was given by Mrs. R. D. Jones. George E. Squires sang a tenor solo, "O Grave Where is Thy Victory." Prayers were offered by Bishop James Larsen and Christian Chris-tian Johansen. Judge George Christensen of Price, C. W. Sor-enson Sor-enson and Mrs. M. C. Peterson were the speakers and all paid glowing tribute to the character qualities and activities of the deceased. de-ceased. The flower covered grave in the city cemetery was dedicated by Mads Anderson. The pall bearers were: Bishop A. E. Mcintosh, Henry Hasler, James P. Ellis, H. G. Ericksen and L. C. Rasmussen. |
