Show Snow College Notes Badgers Impressive In Tre-League Games A rather impressive record has been turned in by the Snow College basketeers in pre-loague games engaged en-gaged in. Ten games have be -n plaved including games with some of the lest high scrool and co'wge eams in the state. The Badgers have chalked up nine wins at against one defeat which Is not bad considering who administered the defeat The lone loss was handed Snow bv the B. Y. U. varsity five which is considered one of the best tims in the west. Snow played a brand of ball that is found usually usual-ly only In the Universities. The "Y" team was given plenty to do to emerge victorious over Snow. Only in the second quarter did the Provo hoopsters show better playing than the Ephraim team displayed. Russ Magleby, a former Snow courtier, was the star of the game with the highest score, besides playing a great guard game. The results of the first ten practice prac-tice tilts follows: Snow 46, Manti 18; Snow '58, N. S. H., 10; Snow 28, Moroni, 12; Snow 47, B. Y. U. seconds, sec-onds, 28; Snow 26, Uintah, 20; Snow, 67; L. D. S. C. 7; Snow, 47, L. D. S. C. 29; Snow, 28, B.Y.U. 41; Snow, 57, Moroni, 24. This gives Snow a total ot 436 points as against 206 for apponents of an average av-erage of 44 points to 21 for opponents oppon-ents per game. Two more practice tilts are scheduled sched-uled with B. Y. U. junior varsity five at Ephraim-January 10th and 11th. The first league game is with the exceptionally strong Dixie College quintet of St. George at Snow January 17 and 18. Gridders Receive Sweaters Sixteen Badger gridmen will receive re-ceive sweaters with the block "S" as awards for their work on ths gridiron last fall. The awards are to be presented Friday in assembly. Seven of those receiving sweatees are representatives of the North Sanpete high school. They are: Gordon Staker, Verl Johansen. Vernon Johansen, Reese Bunnel, Morris Bimnel, VanNoy Stewart, and Chesley Norman. The others receiving awards are from various parts of southern Utah. They are: Melroy Luke, Harris Sorenson, Charles Schultz, Smith Fullmer, Theron Clinger, Earl Peterson, Mer-rit Mer-rit Estes, Lionel Wasden and Mark Jackman. |
