Show i : r I FOUNTAIN GREEN By Special Correspondence 1 The Christmas holidays are now past and both the elementary and junior high schools have resumed their work. All teachers who returned re-turned to their homes for the holiday holi-day season have now come back. School opened January 6th. Pres. and Mrs. J. L. Nielson loft December 30th for California to visit with their son Alma, who is laboring as an L. D. S. missionary in that district. They report a ' land of sunshine and roses, also that they are having an enjoyable i time and will remain indefinitely. , On January 6th the new city of ficials of Fountain Green met at the Tithing Office and received the oath of office. They are mayor, may-or, Matthias Allred; councilmen, C 8. Augason, Ed. ielson, Ivan Ras- mussen, Arthur G. Anderson, E. J. Johnson; city recorder, Royal Iv- : ory; city treasurer, Lena Livingston. John Snow was repappointed by ac- ', clamation as city marshall for the coming year. : Mrs. Caroline Larsen has recently returned from Idaho where she spent the past two months vU'ting with her sister, Mrs. Charles Bristol. Bris-tol. The Sanpete Valley daily train has discontinued the old passenger coach which has been used for many years past and now operates as a strictly f) eight train between Man-ti Man-ti and Nephi. The Rio Grande Motorways has commenced operating operat-ing a truck and passenger line between be-tween Salt Lake City and Marys-vale Marys-vale and are using some good and up to date busses on their line. They report that the trade thus far has far surpassed their expectations expecta-tions for the beginning of their service, but they will be able to accomodate ac-comodate any amount of either passengers pas-sengers or freight. Everyone is happy about the much needed snow storm and is wishing for more. The Home Economics club met Friday, January 3rd with Mrs. W. P. Allred. Mrs. Martha Edler was appointed president for the com'ng year with Mrs. Lilian Ivory as secretary sec-retary and Mrs. Marie L. Allred as treasurer. The outgoing officers of the past year are Mrs. Ruby Ivory, Mrs. Laverne Oldroyd and Mrs. Rena Crowther. A report was given by Edna E. Christiansen of her course of study while attending the U. A. C. at Logan. Everybody be prepared for the Ward Reunion to be held on Janu-uary Janu-uary nth at the Amusement Hall. This is sponsored by the M. I. A. of Fountain Green and assisted by other organizations. The reunion consists of a free program in the afternoon, after which refreshments will be served to everyone. Then will come the get acquainted songs and games which will be followed by a free dance for every member of the Fountain Green ward. This reunion will be divided into two groups: Friday will be the day for all over fourteen years of age and on Saturday foj all under fourteen. The committees who are working so zealously, hope that everyone will be out and come prepared to have the time of their lives. The 'Green Fountain Symphonizers" will furnish the music for dancing. |
