"The Rainbow Man" Is an all -talking and singing screen romance, plentifully supplied with Instrumental Instrumen-tal music which contains not one note of "blues" or "vo-deo-do." But the fact that It defies the groat American Jazz tradition is no nlone the reason for recommending recom-mending "The Rainbow Man." It is first of all a real, human story, simple, but true and plausible. In tho town. of a high calibre In the hands of everyone in the cast. Eddie Dowllng is a small-tlnm minstrel man who adopts the little boy. Frankie Darro, after his father, fa-ther, George Hayes, is victim of a vodvil accident. Marian Nixon Is the daughter of a small-town hotel proprietor. She falls in love with Dowllng while his troupe Is playing her town. The plot goes forward through sunshine and tears and comedy reasoned with episode drama, until finally the lovers are Joined in the touching scene wherein tho rainbow of their romance comes shining through. The melodies of the production, "Rainbow Man," "Smile Little Pal" and "Sleepy Valley" are of a pleasing pleas-ing quality, reminiscent of "Honeymoon "Honey-moon Lane" and "Log Cabin of Dreams." Here Is a sound-film romance which thoroughly Justifies the "talkies" "talk-ies" It Is one of the best screen entertainments this reviewer ha ever hearkened to or beheld. |
