Conferences were held with Mr. Garrison looking to an early organization or-ganization of the district and It was agreed to call a meeting of the water users at Mt. I'leasant Friday night. Sept. 1 nth. Tho plans contemplate Impounding Impound-ing waters in the mountains eas" of Fair-view- in what U known 8" the Gooseberry reservoir site. Ultimately It Is planned to build a dam 170 Teet high covering ap proximately 1100 acres and Impounding Im-pounding 71.000 acre feet of water. Tho initial unit contemplates a dam of 117 feet high impounding 20.000 acre feet. The project entails digging a tunnel tun-nel about one and one-fourth miles to convey tho water from the Colorado Colo-rado river watershed into Sanpete county. It has been deemed advisable to consolidate all water users in the county Into a single district, according ac-cording to Mr. Stringhnm. Attempts will be made to bring in between 2r and 30 irrigation companies. The association Is expecting to call upon L. M. Wlnsor, federal Irrigation engineer attached with the Utah Agricultural college to make a survey. sur-vey. After this work has been completed com-pleted the district will make application ap-plication to the county commission in accordance with the irrigation law and the district organization Is es pected to be well under way by fall. |
