This huge raft of Oregon pine logs, GOO feet long and 52 feet wide, is towed 1,000 miles from an interior point on the Columbia river in Oregon, via the Pacific ocean to San Diego, Cal., where it Is converted into lumber for the use of the United States army and for shipbuilding purposes. The lumber Is distributed throughout the Southwest. |
