The farmers of Oneida county, Idaho, Ida-ho, are now looking towards a bright future. The winter wheat crop has come through thus far', generally, in a little better than the average, with the contract price offered now 7 5 cents or so better than at this time last year. Some sections have suffered somewhat- -from lack of moisture, but no sections are reported now where the crop will be anywhere near a failure. It is learned from men who have Kone over the country quite thoroughly, thor-oughly, that the yield for this year will be much better than the average aver-age for the past three years. In the Stone section the grasshoppers grasshop-pers hare materially reduced what would have been their best crop. Yet aB a whole, the crop in that section sec-tion will be better than for the past three years. " Spring wheat has not made so good a showing, according to reports, re-ports, in any section of the county. But it will be a long w-ays from a failure anywhere. Had the recent rain come two weeks earlier, mos of this crop would have been good. However, as near as we can, learn, it has done better than was expected. . The elevators are contracting Turkey Tur-key Red now at $2.00, which would lead one to expect a better price later la-ter in the season. Idaho Enterprise. |
