Show Wonderful Crops. Sec-etary of Agriculture Wilson was talking to the Washington Star r- about the record crops of 1912. ""These wonderful crops,", he said, "are a'most enough to make you believe be-lieve the cross-cut saw story. "A farmer, you know, send his hired man to a neighbor's with a note saying: "'Friend Smith: Will you please lend me your cross-cut saw, as I wish to cut a watermelon up so as to get it into my dray?' "The neighbor wrote back: "'Friend Jones: I would be glad to lend you my saw, but same has just got stuck in a canteloupe.' " |
