Show Tuberculosis Death Rate Lower. The whole tuberculosis crusade, in which children are so largely th beneficiaries, bene-ficiaries, would have been impossible without the use of rabbits and guinea piga. By the use of tuberculin it la now possible to make a diagnosis so early in life that a large portion of cases are cured. Humpbacked children chil-dren and permanent lameness from tuberculosis tu-berculosis of the spine and hip joint are rapidly disappearing. In 20 ye;irs the death rate from tuberculosis in New York has been reduced about 40 per cent; in Boston 55 per cent. Study of tuberculosis in animals has proved also that the disease is uot inherited. |
