Show BRIGHAM CITY LIKED THE GUARD Ilelaied Prigham City papers, at hand this week, give splendid reports of the I'tah National Guard, encamp-here encamp-here last week. In the course of a very complimentary two-column article ar-ticle the news says: "They are all Utah boys, nianyo ft hem prominent in business, religious, educational and social circles in the cities and towns whicht hey cull home. They are a fine lot of troops, bronzed by the r two weeks in the blazing sun while the exercise which they have been getting daily has given a suppleness to their limbs and bodies which bespeak be-speak perfect physical condition." The Bulletin says among other things: "The boys of the guard as a whole are fine lot of fellows and lumber among their ranks some of he lest and most prominent mou of he state. In the ranks of the officers mil men you will find merchants, fanners, mechanics, church workers i ml in all a clean lot of men. We 'earned that some of the men rather resented some statements made concerning con-cerning the soldiers whiih would in ii y way detract trom tneir goon standing and character. These articles conierning the Guard Hand appeared in the papers: "The First Regimental Hand which 's composed of young men from San-Pete San-Pete County mostly, has won a place for Itself in the hearts of ihe people of this city. The music furnished by his splendid organization is of the "eiliii artial kind which stirs one's1 feelings with patriotic fervor. The ''and plays perfectly on the march, one of the requisites of a good band, ind filth day at noon when the troops ,r:ss through the city on ihe;r way ack to camp, the sidewalks are lined villi people who are attracted by the '.lie music of the band and the measured meas-ured tread of the soldiers. The band live a splendid concert last evening j from the balcony of the Pontile m -lei which was listened to by a crowded crowd-ed street of people." "The military band of the National I'lnard s of ('tall gave a free open n-r ! concert Wednesday evening from the i veranda of the Hold Hoolhe. The street was tilled with people who J enjoyed the playing greatly, which " as shown by the freonent applause. We might add here that the Guards carry a splendid band, who know-how- to handle their music in llrst -lass shape. |
