Show Thought. An oration given by Hilda Madsen n thy recent Mutual Contest. As plants spring from seeds, so its acts of mankind spring from hou?lns, act is the blossom of bought, and joy and suflering a'e s fruit, by virtue of the though. s chosen and encouraged, the mind is a master weaver, bo h of the iuner garment, character, and of th-; out-ter out-ter garment, circumstances. Mar. is maker of his own destiny, he Is made or he is unmade by himself, he can eilher ascend to the rievine perfection perfec-tion of man or he can descend beneath be-neath the level of beasls, bem-cen these two extremes are found all grades of character, and man Is the 'maker, the master and the cluosei . Until thought is linked with purpose pur-pose and a determination to win. there can be no progress, no accomplishment, accom-plishment, only drift wood unon this great ocean of life, it is only by performing per-forming ones duties, no matter bow small and insignificant they migh? appear, and by continual efforts, eve-continued eve-continued defeats, in trying to gain ones purpose that strength a id character c:in ha cr-iinnH r...A . ciuu a mi I r and spotless foundation be found fo, future power and triumph. All about us are found men and women whose desire Is well enough but who do not translate that desire into conduct and character, to at tain true greatness and strength of character one must learn to control rot only that desire, which Is the mn-t've mn-t've power of life, but that great and mighty imminent which cairies tha' desire into epect. and the will is that instrument, that mighty instrument bv which that something about n 'hat thinks and feels and sees is ablc 'o direct the aims of life towards h ifli and noble ends. The greatest personality we have i" h'storv is Jesus of N'nze'reth, think of the battles he fouirlit. think of the te-rible auonies he endured, think of h's temptations, his life from earliest rh'ldhood was one of deep though? ..row and trials, and trourh it all be won the greatest glory that could come to man.
