Show FAIR VIEW Mrs. Leo Peacock of SI cling is visiting vis-iting at the home of Mrs. I liai. Peacock. S. P. Melgaard has lately . purchased pur-chased the home of Orin Barker at Fairview. Freeman' Stewart of Milburn purchased pur-chased a ford automobile tins week. This is the first auto owned in Mil-burn. Mil-burn. The stork visited the homes of Henry Brady, Charles, and Willie Mower this week and left a baby girl at each place. The Misses Ethel and Mary Lind-quist Lind-quist spent the past week visiting relatives and friends at Provo aud Salt Lake. On account of the stormy weather the May Day celebration was postponed post-poned for one week. It will take place May 8th if the weather man will permit. Last Sunday night, Jack frost made a rather disastrous visit, here. He mowed the lucern, killed most of Ihe fruit, nipped grain in some places and even froze the leaves on the trees. Mrs. J. P. Stevens and family of Montpelier, Idaho came to Fairview this week. Mr. Stevens has been here the past two months. They expect ex-pect to make their home in Spring City. The public school teachers for the coming year are the following: H. S. Olsen, Principal, J. W. Christensen, Eli A. Day, Jr., A. Ira Cox. Olona Olsen. Ol-sen. Marcella Lasson, Rowona Day, Flossie Anderson, Mamie Madsen and Murv Sundwall. All are our home teachers. The teachers and pupils have lately late-ly made quite an improvement on ihe school grounds. The s'.vings. teeters, and volley ball cour's have been moved to the North and West of the School house leaving the whole of the grounds on the South side for a base ball diamond. The r-voiipris have also been leveled and clea ned. A club was organized la-1 Thursday Thurs-day by four cf Fairvicw's young set. Those '"resent were Misses Ethel All-red, All-red, Theresa Lindquist. Enid Peter-con Peter-con and Conda Neilson. Theresa Lind-inu'st Lind-inu'st being selected as present. They selected "B'Tlv Club" for Iheir name land in the future intend to spend imen-y times together. The Pleasant View school closed April 30th. A very pleasing program was given by the pupils. Although there were onlv twenty-five pupils jthev made a fine sbow.iug and every I pupil had one or both parents pres-'ent. pres-'ent. After the exercises Ice Cream land cake was served to all and candy iaerl nuts to the children. Mr. .Merlin , MadSPti and Miss' Pelva Cox were tho teachers. Mr. Madsen having taken tak-en the school the last mouth only. I Warren Brady was the regular teacher teach-er during Ihe past winter. The Ladies' Literary Club met at ! the home of Mrs. Fred Danielr.on .May 5th. A mother's day program I was given. Story of a mother: Mrs. A. TT. Miner; Poem "Mother:" Mrs. A. H. Dainty refreshments were served. Funaral services were held at the L. T). S. Chapel Saturday over the remains re-mains of Htber Sorensou. Music was furniclied by the choir, also a quartette by choir members. A. U. Minor, Archie R. Anderson and Bishop Bish-op II. P. Hansen were the speakers, ."M ci whom paid high tribute to the deceased and encouraged the bereaved. be-reaved. .Mr. Sorenson was twenty-nine twenty-nine years obk He graduated from the public school with honor and then attended school at the B. Y. U. for one year after which he went to Alaska with a party of surveyors where he spent the past seven years as a cot, 1 1 act or and builder. During this seven years he kept a diary of what he did oa h day and sent it to his mother. He leaves a father, mother, three brothers, and five sisters sis-ters to in turn his loss, also a host of friends in Fairview. Those who came to attend the fu-nral fu-nral from out of town were Dr. and Mrs. Rothv.ell of Murray, Miss Elsie Sorenson, Mr. Laron Sorenson and Mr. F'loren Sorenson of Salt Lake city; Mr. and Mrs. Sophus Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Sorenson, Miss Evelyn Sorenson and Mr. Leo Sorenson Soren-son of Mt. Pleasant. The large attendance at-tendance at the funeral showed the esteem in which Hebcr was held. The floral offerings were beautiful. Two brother, two brother-in-laws and two of his nephews acted as pall bearers. |
